Making the Most of JUNIOR SPRING!

Here are great things to focus in on this spring and build momentum toward college:

Making Junior Spring Count!

Junior spring is prime time in a teenager’s college journey. Students who use it well arrive at senior year feeling focused, confident, and genuinely excited about where they’re headed after high school.

Truly, there’s no single “right” way to manage the college process. But making thoughtful progress, one step at a time, is key.

March is a great time for juniors to gain clarity and build momentum. Here are three smart ways to make the most of this season and the months ahead:

1. Shape a College List That Truly Fits

This is the fun part: exploring schools with fresh eyes and an open mind. The goal is a well-rounded list of affordable colleges where your student can genuinely see themselves thriving: academically and socially, and perhaps even professionally.

Looking beyond the familiar names often leads to discovering some lesser-known gems.

2. Map Out an SAT/ACT Strategy That Works

Whether your student is preparing for a first attempt or weighing whether to retest, spring is a great time to take stock. Every student’s testing story is different, and knowing how to use scores (or go test-optional) strategically can make a real difference in admissions success.

3. Start Reflecting on the Genuine Story

The strongest applications aren’t just résumés — they’re windows into who a student really is. Encouraging your junior to start thinking now about what makes them them gives that thinking time to develop naturally, so when application time arrives, students are ready to present themselves with confidence and authenticity.

Students who engage thoughtfully with the process during junior year submit stronger applications. There is the benefit of more time to explore, reflect, and make intentional choices that are truly right for each student.
