A new tool offers a more accurate picture of college costs
A new and simplified tuition cost calculator, developed by an economist and adopted by 22 selective US colleges and universities, provides a more realistic cost estimate than that provided by the standard net price calculators required by the federal government.
The Net Price Estimator primarily evaluates two metrics: household income and number of siblings enrolled in college. According to The New York Times, the simplified tool delivers a cost estimate in seconds.
.
The 22 colleges launching the calculator this year include:
- Amherst College
- Bates College
- Boston College
